And No, I don't mean the movie.
the good
Turmeric
Vitamin D
Resveratrol
Garlic
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
(protect against some forms of cancer)
As mentioned in one of my previous post, I take several supplements. Some of them are taken for cancer prevention, some to support my immune system and some for other health benefits. Please be sure to do your own research and ask your doctor or nutritionist for professional assistance (seeing-as I am not an expert). If you would like a full list of everything I am taking, you can email me at montyemae@cfl.rr.com.
the bad
soda & diet soda (nutrasweet & equal)
refined sugar
canned tomatoes or tomatoes products
microwave popcorn
conventional apples & potatoes
It’s official, I’m a label reader. (I carry lists of things to avoid in my purse)
Things to avoid on a food label: food additives, hormones, preservatives, MSG (monosodium glutamate), high fructose corn syrup, “natural flavoring”, aspartame, omego 6 oils, caseinate, autolyzed yeast enzymes (or extract), soy protein, hydrolyzed protein, vegetable protein extract, soy isolates, calcium caseinate, mercury, FD&C red/blue/green/yellow (food coloring).
the ugly
petroleum jelly
parabens
sodium lauryl sulfate
Things to avoid on a cosmetics label: petroleum jelly, coal tar, parabens, DEA (diethanolamine), formaldehyde, triclosan, PPD (phenylenediamine), phthalates, SLS(E) (sodium lauryl sulfate), propylene glycol, toluene, talc, hydroquinone, TEA (triethanolamine), ethyl acetate, diazolixinyl, cocamide/lauramide DEA, hydroxytoluence, butylate, butyl acetate and “fragrance”.
Other things to avoid: Aluminum, dry-cleaning fluids, bug spray, roundup (weed killers), pesticides.
Don’t be surprised if you find some of these things in almost every label you look at… our food and cosmetics are filled with poisons. So it is almost impossible to avoid them all. We do the best we can.
As for my health, I truly have never felt better. As a family, we are still making changes and transitioning to organic, all natural food and products. Trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, but certainly still have a long way to go.
My skin looks healthier and my scars have healed beautifully… even Anna Grace noticed. The other day she said “Mommy your scar looks really good, it’s not as purple anymore”. I have also managed to dodge the stomach bug and a few colds that have circulated through our house over the past few months. I have so much more energy than I used to. Plus, no more headaches or stomachaches (I’ve always had a sensitive stomach).
Just started this book, will let you know what I find out. (I am sure there are so many things I have missed; please feel free to leave any information you have in the comments area).
Proverbs 25:11
Timely advice is as lovely as golden apples in a silver basket.
